Wound Care Celebration is July 18-22
�
����������� The Center for Wound Care and Hyperbaric Medicine in Neodesha is celebrating its 6th Anniversary this year by honoring patients and Wound Care Volunteers during the week of July18-July 22.� Diana Cunningham, RN, CWS�, Program Director, comments, �We admire our patients, many who have suffered for years with nonhealing wounds, but are willing to trust us and try a new treatment. We appreciate them and celebrate their successes with them.�
����������� �Over the past six years wound care patients have ranged in age from 2 to 96 years, reside in many different counties, in three states and have called three different countries home. Hyperbaric patients have ranged in age from 13 to 96 years. Their stories have one underlying theme�pain, inconvenience, and a past history of failure to heal.� The Center uses the team approach to treat patients and the team includes four physicians and five nurses who have had advanced Wound Care Training.� The 6-day Hyperbaric Medicine Team Training Course in San Antonio is approved by U.H.M.S. (Undersea and Hyperbaric Medical Society) and the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology.� Team Members also receive advanced continuing education each year.
����������� Rebecca Rhone, RN, CWS�, Clinical Coordinator, explains the value of volunteers, �Our volunteers are part of our Wound Care Team.� They are in charge of the Waiting Room and make our patients and their caregivers or transportation providers welcome. Our volunteers are wonderful.���
����������� The Center for Wound Care�s Volunteers are nurturing and caring�as you would expect retired nursing and educational personnel to be.� Three volunteers are retired RN�s.� Marie Kneebone was Director of Nurses at Wilson County Hospital (WCH) �for many years, LaVera Cook was in charge of� Obstertics and later became Director of Nurses, and �Idonna McCarter was Surgical Supervisor at WCH. �Other volunteers include Aloma Beard, a retired kindergarden teacher, and Kale Herder, retired school secretary, at North Lawn Elementary.
����������� Wound Care employees are looking forward to the chance to tell our patients and volunteers thank you.� A small gift and special snacks (diabetic friendly, of course) are part of the plans.
