Donor Express at WCH

The American Red Cross expressed their gratitude to blood donors at the Red Cross Donor Express held in the Wilson County Hospital Conference Room on Friday, July 19, by presenting them with a Team 2004--American Blood Donor t-shirt.

A Red Cross nurse noted its difficult to find time to donate blood during the summer, but the Red Cross needs blood for hospital patients no matter what the season. Blood is typically in short supply and high demand during the summer months. Red Cross also appreciates those generous employers who allow their staff time to donate blood.

Donor express is designed to reach smaller donor groups and provide good customer service. The Blood Bank comes to the employeenot the employee to the Red Cross Drawing Center. WCH units are then included in Neodeshas total. Although most of the donors are WCH employees, WCH spouses and family members, other community members are invited to make an appointment and donate. In days preceding the bi-monthly event, Michelle Bohannon, RN, schedules donors every 15 minutes.

Donors at the July event were Betty Davis, Linda Ritter, Michelle Bohannon, Janice Reese, Susan Voorhies, Clay Eury, Deanna Pittman, Bill Estes, Joann Houchin, Kelly Johnson, Marcile Logan, Marc Livingston, Brandy Daniels, Carolyn Garrett, and Suzy Cook.
