Wilson County Hospital Auxiliary The Wilson County Hospital Auxiliary was organized in March of 1959 providing both moral and financial help to the Hospital. Over 300 people are dues-paying members with active members meeting at 3 pm on the first Thursday of each month. A 2-day Holiday Bazaar and Luncheon, held each year in November, is the biggest money making project of the year. The projects of the auxiliary have been many. In 1984, the auxiliary conducted a campaign to encourage the citizens to register to vote. They have built floats for local parades. They decorate the hospital for the holidays and make tray favors. A member of the auxiliary is at the hospital each weekday afternoon to deliver mail, flowers, and balloons. Money making projects have included operating a snack bar, selling cookbooks, serving food at auctions and catering N.H.S. Alumni meetings. They have held baked food sales, ice cream socials, quilt and grocery raffles. Over the years, the proceeds from these projects have purchased or helped purchase many items for the hospital including: Furniture, carpets, and draperies The Wilson County Hospital Auxiliary recently presented 17 sea mist rockers to Wilson County Hospital to be used in patient rooms. The chairs were manufactured in Coffeyville, Kansas by American Craftsman Inc. Profits from the annual Holiday Bazaar provided the $3,230 in funds needed for the chairs. In addition to the chairs, the Auxiliary donated $1,900 towards a Cautery Unit to be used in surgery.
