There are many factors that can lead to mental health concerns in older adults:
Stress and loss--The loss of loved ones, health, physical abilities, financial stability and family activities can lead to mental illness.
Genetics--Some people have a biological vulnerability that may be triggered due to the aging process.
Medical Conditions--Medical conditions such as heart disease, cancer and nutritional deficiencies can create symptoms of mental illness.
Medication management--Multiple medications may interact leading to mood changes and symptoms of mental illness.
