The Red Cross expressed their gratitude to participants at Red Cross Donor Express held at Wilson County Hospital on Tuesday, July 2 by presenting them with a One Person Can Make a Difference t-shirt. A Red Cross nurse noted its difficult to find time to donate blood during the summer but the Red Cross needs blood for hospital patients no matter what the time of year. Blood is typically in short supply and high demand during the summer months. Red Cross also appreciates those generous employers who allow their staff time to donate blood. Donor Express is designed to reach smaller donor groups and provide good customer service. The Blood Bank comes to the employeenot the employee to the Red Cross Drawing Center. Employees are away from their desk or work responsibilities for only 30-45 minutes. Although most of the donors are WCH employees, WCH spouses and family members, and other community members are invited to make an appointment and donate. Red Cross relies on volunteer assistance to help maintain an adequate blood supply for our local hospitals and their patients. Donors at the successful event included Sally Arnold, Dr. Brad Barrett, Michelle Bohannon, Betty Davis, John Gutschenritter, Teresa Holcom, Kelly Johnson, Marc Livingston, Cindy Monroy, Jan Owens, Julie Quanstrom, Janice Reese, Linda Ritter, Susie Olson, Steve Tolle, Susan Voorhies, and Connie Zilliox.
